Moving on to one of Mrs RN's daughters' rooms. Again it looks reasonably neat as a whole image, but the clothes are nearly falling off the shelving and the toys are crammed into one corner. The bookshelf is looking a bit untidy, too.
As usual, start by taking everything out from the wardrobe and the shelving. Put everything on the bed and sort them.
The main problem was the shelving and the drawers. They were a bit difficult for a child (or even an adult) to manage. The nicely folded clothes were falling off the shelf, the drawers weren't opening and closing smoothly, these systems were not encouraging the daughter to keep her room tidy.
Mrs RN told me that her daughter doesn't play with the toys much, so the toys have now been moved to the top part of the wardrobe where her child can see what she has but needs to ask for help to get them down. The extra bedding for sleepovers is still reachable but tucked away.
The shelving for the clothes is now on its side. This means it serves as a divider for the clothes, and we don't need to worry about the clothes falling off the shelf anymore.
Separate the clothes (e.g. 'tops', 'bottoms', 'underwear', 'sport wear') and put them into the shelving and different storage sections on the floor in the wardrobe. This is probably more manageable for pre-teens than using the shelving standing.
The wardrobe is all done, now the toys and the rest of the bits...
Some of the boxes of toys are in the wardrobe, and we managed to get a smaller basket for toys in this room.
Mrs RN is now encouraged to do the rest of the job on the bookshelf by herself, so I left it as it's shown. I hope she can find some time to tackle it. It shouldn't be too difficult. The two pieces of advice for her before I left were...
1. Never put anything on the top of the bookshelf
2. Use any extra space in the bookshelf for some decoration. Having favourite things displayed makes the room so special.
Now her eldest daughter's room is so neat! Later Mrs RN told me that her younger girl wants to have her room done just like this!
Now move onto the cupboard under the stairs...
There are two pieces of storage furniture in the cupboard, which is impressive! Moreover, the shape of the furniture fits perfectly with the shape of this area which enables the area to store as much as possible. The only and the biggest problem is that there is no access to things, therefore you can't dig around and look for things.
As always, take everything out from the cupboard and sort things out.
Also, I rearranged the furniture in order to reach things more easily. You would like to avoid spending time looking for something at the far end of this narrow area. Relocating the furniture means keeping more things near where you would be standing.
Now, there is nothing alongside the storage furniture, so that you can access anything you like. Fewer things at the far end and keeping one side clear are the keys to making this area tidy and useful.
You can keep more everyday stuff near the door such as bags, shoes, umbrellas and coats.

Note:
- The bedroom job took about 1 hour, and the cupboard under the stairs took about 30 minutes.
- I left the bedroom incomplete since Mrs RN was keen to finish the job by herself. This enabled Mrs RN to make the most of her time with me.
